The shows in Milan over the weekend showed off some rather fine new fashions.
Prada provided the highlight, with an amazing set that looked like a series of rooms in a colourful house that the models wove around. It was Miuccia Prada's most immediate menswear offer for a couple of seasons.
Not to say that the current season of stripped back minimalism, arriving in stores now, isn't desirable or that last autumn/winter 2012 with all the actors on the catwalk wasn't impressive, it's just that this show delivered clothes that you just wanted to grab off the models and wear immediately.
Prada herself said backstage that the whole idea of the collection was to create new classics and fashion for now. She pulled it off with fabulous ease.

Other Milan highs included Burberry's rubber trenches. Gucci's slick coats and fluffy knits. Marni's 1970s everything.
